Food fraud prevention:
three years of GFSI and where we are

Register Now!

This food fraud prevention content builds upon the previous DNV/ Food Fraud Prevention webinar series that ran two years ago. While in some ways, it seems food fraud prevention has been around for a long time (the term was formally defined in an academic sense in 2011) but it really has only been just over three years since the formal GFSI requirements. As companies – and auditors – are conducting annual reviews, there is a realization that many of the prevention strategies either just started or did not expand to all products. As companies are coming out of the COVID crisis, there is a renewed focus on all management systems, including a deeper review of food fraud vulnerability assessments and an actually implemented food fraud prevention strategy. This session builds on Dr. Spink’s experience as the founder of food fraud concept in academia, participation on the GFSI Food Fraud Think Tank, which developed the direction for the GFSI requirements, and engagement with the Codex Alimentarius work on food fraud definitions. This presentation will include review of the current state of food fraud prevention and the most efficient way to conduct a gap analysis for self-assessment of your compliance status.
